不少人拿历史周期跟君主专制来类比“人民共和国”政权，其实情绪性大于事实性，甚至有些诅咒意味。 列宁主义政权的高效独裁形式跟古代君主专制的低效独裁形式并不相同：独裁效率越高，出错率越大，容错性还更低。 中国古代君主专制更多依赖道德教化作为意识形态。马列主义意识形态反而是反道德的。
